Sky Blue Pink, again...

Yesterday's world of news was full of gloom, so, I thought I would cheer you (and me) with the beautiful sunset hues from my window, last night...

Sky Blue (very) Pink...

Another gorgeous sunset, viewed a short distance from the Thames, in Kingston.  The alluring hue perfectly recalls my favourite childhood nail-varnish (from Mary Quant)...Sky Blue Pink, of course!

One of my favourite things...

...about living on the edge of London, is the enjoyment I gain from an evening stroll by the river.

If I time it right, I'm in for a treat with one of Surbiton's glorious sunsets, enhanced by the serenity of the swans sailing by.

Even if the day has seen its stressful moments, my walk - and the scenery - work as an antidote, setting me back on track towards relaxation.

A Natural Beauty

A favourite wonder, in my world, is the joy I take-in from the beauty of sunsets. I can rarely resist taking a photo when the opportunity arises. Last night featured a magnificent display of horizontal pink-and-blue layers - too bad I didn't have my camera on me to capture it!

However, this was another striking example that impressed its beauty upon me when I returned home at an opportune moment, recently... Where have you spotted your most impressive sunset?

Surbiton Sunset

Even in the most banal of (suburban) settings, it's possible to encounter a beautiful surprise. So it was recently - one of the advantages of the clear frozen weather - that I experienced this gloriously pink-tinged sunset. Taken on my (old-ish) mobile phone, it's still a satisfying photo (unlike some of my other blurry blog-featured examples!).

Any recommendations for a good affordable camera? Where's your favourite (or most surprising) sunset?

spring forward!

I never really classify myself as suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) - in its true medical sense - but phew!, do I breathe a huge sigh of relief, when the clocks go forward and I can relish the prospect of longer, light-filled evenings, and brighter, more temperate days. I think I’m with the majority in wishing that we didn’t have to go through the six monthly clock-changing palaver. What a waste, and oh!, what a difference it would make, if we could have that extra evening hour of natural light, in the gloomier winter months, too. It’s a whole time-worn debate, I know, but along with many I believe it's become an outdated tradition.

What a shame, for the Oxford and Cambridge rowing teams, that they couldn’t have had their moment today, rather than yesterday... On that theme - combined with the delightful anticipation of longer evenings - I have to share a beautiful photo I took, last summer, of a stunning sunset over Putney Bridge.
